Before your trip
Prior to your trip to Costa Rica, please check the following points:
- Your passport should have a validity of at least 6 months
- You must have a return ticket.
- Vaccinations: Please ask your doctor or check with the nearest tropical medicine institute the requirements if you are going to travel to Costa Rica.
- It is better if you do not bring Euros since exchange rate at local banks is not so good. It is better bringing US Dollars, either on cash or Traveller Checks. 100- and 50 dollar bills are usually accepted only at the banks. It is better if you bring small bills.
- Credit cards are widely accepted. There are some automatic cashiers that accept debit cards to withdraw money, eg EC Maestro. Automatic cashier must be ATM.
- In case you need constant medication, please do not forget to pack your medicines.
- Things you should pack:
- Flash light, comfortable clothing
- Jacket, on volcanoes or for example in Arenal Volcano it can be quite chilly.
- Comfortable, closed shoes.
- Sandals
- Sunscreen lotion
- Mosquito repellent
- Hat
- Bathing suit
- Camara and its charging unit (please check the voltage, here is 110 volts) and enough memory card or capacity.
- Binoculars
- Snorker
